This is where it all begins, where you join us on the first step of our journey together. You'll meet your friendly expert guide and we'll get the formalities out of the way quickly so that we can get out there and start enjoying the safari you've been dreaming of.

Nairobi is a wonderfully dynamic city and your gateway to so much that is good about Kenya. It has its very own wildlife attractions, as well as museums and other fascinating windows onto modern and historical Kenyan life. The city is also known for its vibrant shopping, restaurant and nightlife scenes.

Visit, The Giraffe Centre

Visit Nairobi's Giraffe Centre and enjoy coming face-to-face with endangered Rothschild's giraffes. There's some serious conservation work going on here as well, with giraffes from here being translocated to support rare wild populations.

You can sponsor orphaned elephants or watch them play at this fantastic place.

Day 2 & 3

Samburu National Reserve

You're in for a treat when you visit Samburu National Reserve with us. Expect glorious scenery, four of the Big Five (no rhino), hyenas, giraffes, hippos and zebras. Samburu highlights include some prized northern specialties, such as Somali ostrich, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx and reticulated giraffe. And bring your binoculars: almost 400 bird species have been seen within the reserve's boundaries.

You really feel like a part of the environment while also staying in great comfort in the thatch-roofed, mud-walled bungalows of Samburu Sopa Lodge. The rooms are large and filled with character, and the lodge has fine facilities that include a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The location is also outstanding for exploring Samburu National Reserve in all its glory.

Day 4 & 5

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

There's so much for you to enjoy when you visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Across the conservancy's high-altitude savannah grasslands and with views of distant mountains, expect to see both black and white rhinos, as well as lion, cheetah, hyena, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and zebra; you could see the Big Five here. Ol Pejeta protects the last two surviving northern white rhinos on earth, and there's a rehabilitation center for captive chimpanzees. With over 500 bird species recorded here, birders will love this place too.

Rhino Watch Safari Lodge

Rhino Watch Safari Lodge has a fantastic position, an easy drive from the Aberdare Mountains, with good views of Mt Kenya on the horizon. Accommodation here is in big safari tents with polished wooden floors and private bathrooms, and facilities range from a spa and massage center to a restaurant and bar. Birdwatchers will love how many birds you can see in the hotel gardens.

Day 6 & 7

Lake Naivasha

Of all Kenya's Rift Valley lakes, high-altitude Lake Naivasha offers the richest variety of experiences. There's lots to do here, and you might even see zebras, giraffes or hippos. Its human story is also fascinating: Lake Naivasha was popular with colonial types as an escape from the city, and it plays a similar role for locals now, especially on weekends.

Hell's Gate National Park (Day 7)

Expect a different experience in Hell's Gate National Park than in any other Kenyan park. With no predators here, you can get out of your vehicle to enjoy the gorge scenery and look for zebra, giraffe, impala, buffalo and rock hyrax.

House of Horses is a beautiful farm stay located on the North side of Lake Naivasha. The place is very intimate with only 3 tents, perfect for small groups who value privacy and a peaceful setting. The farm has over 15 horses.

Masai Mara National Reserve

One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That's because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights, not to mention black rhinos in the Mara Triangle. There's a very good chance you'll also see giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. And bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. It's a place of beautiful savannah landscapes as well, with lots of acacia trees.

At Enkorok Mara Camp enjoy being in an area of the Masai Mara away from other camps, but with plenty of wildlife, including the elephants that sometimes wander through camp. Located in the Siana Conservancy, Enkorok has a dining area with a soaring thatched roof, and the safari tents have plenty of room. You'll never grow tired of the views of the Oloolotikoshi Hills.
